About Us
Established in 1935.
Edward D. Jamie, was born Edward D. Jamakordzian of Armenian parents in Tokat, Turkey in 1911. Orphaned at an early age, and raised in orphanages in various countries, he was finally reunited with his sisters in New York. While attending Fordham University during the Great Depression, he decided to become the first Armenian funeral director in the United States. He recognized the need to serve families who suffered a loss of a family member, knowing only too well the pain survivors experience when a loved one dies. He opened his first funeral home in 1935, located on 29th Street and 3rd Avenue in New York City.
